Projects!!!!

Well what teacher's summer would be complete without a project to kick it off.  We decided that we were going to gut our upstairs flooring.  We had not been huge fans of the carpet and wanted it all to be the same to make the room seem a little bigger and more open.  This winter our dishwasher also backed up onto the floors, so we ended up having some insurance money to use towards our renovation of the floors.  (Miss Ali Jo was lucky enough to be here that wonderful morning when we woke up to a puddle on our kitchen floor dripping down to the basement, she seems to enjoy lots of our best moments ;)  So we decided to lay some new floors and of course we figured we would save money and do it ourselves.

Tuesday, after we had spent the previous day getting Jordan moved in over at Rock Run (whoop whoop!), I cam home from summer school to a dumpster already overflowing with carpet and the majority of our furniture in the garage.  I of course was already panicked that we were going to mess this up and that we had no idea what we were doing, but Jordan calmly requested my "bulging" muscles so I could help him get the remaining furniture out to the garage.  By the end of the first day most of the floors were ripped out.  We took Wednesday off due to an already full dumpster and Jordan's golf schedule.  Thursday we cleaned out all remaining floors.

Friday the project really began!  We worked until late Friday night and we manage to stay all smiles.  Saturday morning we worked some more, prior to another golf outing for Jordan and a bike ride for me! Sunday we celebrated fathers day and my brother Nic spent the night so yet another day off.  Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I would go to summer school and teach while Jordan would begin some work on the floors. Then I would return home so my wonderfully ambitious husband could motivate me to begrudgingly help! They were some very long days, but I am so happy he is such a go getter or I am sure this project would have taken much longer. (Also Monday-Wednesday Teddy had been shipped off to enjoy some time with his grandparents) Thursday when Jordan was gone I was surprisingly the one who started to work again.  It helped that the reward was going to be a glass of wine with some friends that night once the floors were done and their kiddos in bed!!!!

In the end our marriage didn't crumble and no tears were shed. Phew! (Here I would like to insert a shout out to Mike Regan who saved our floors and quite possibly our marriage on one long day when there was a slight glitch) A couple of broken wine glasses did occur and one massive bruise on my leg from my gracefulness when moving furniture. There was also a lot of sweat!!!!! We were exhausted but happy, now I am already working on a little redecorating to make everything match.  We have a few finishing touches but we love them!
