This was our first Christmas as a growing family and our last Christmas of sleeping in and peace and quiet I am sure. We enjoyed every minute of it this year. We started off by celebrating with the Sheahan (Jordan's dad's extended family) Christmas on Sunday. Lost of food and cards were had. Little Puff of course already was spoiled. We headed home and that night the Jolly old Elf himself snuck down our chimney with some gifts for Jordan, Teddy and I. We spent the day snuggled up enjoying some gifts and playing games and having snacks just our little family of 3 soon to be 4. Somehow little Puff even did some shopping for his mama and daddy, and wrote his mama a note that made her cry, he is so sweet already.
Christmas Eve we headed to Roland to celebrate the little baby Jesus. We went to the movie Anchorman 2 and while I enjoyed what I saw it must not have been the best movie ever, because I did catch a little cat nap in an uncomfortable theater seat. More food and fellowship and church. We also exchanged some gifts and I would say little Puff made quite the hall. We woke up early he next morning to Teddy and his cousins hissing, barking and scampering feet. After some breakfast we were off to Story City to see the Wynia crew.
Upon our arrival we sat and talked for a while then we checked out some stockings and gifts from the big man and then of course we ate and enjoyed time together. My grandma and one of my aunts came over in the afternoon to witness Jordan continuing his reign in Monopoly. Nic and his girlfriend Abi came rolling in just in time for supper which was delicious (While my mom did most of the cooking a shout out to T-knock for his skills finding a recipe on the internet and making a great rub for the prime rib). After dinner and more conversation we opened a few more gifts and the spoiling for our little Chap continued.
We stayed in Story for a couple days so that Jordan could participate in the Alumni basketball tournament. It was mostly fun to watch but of course a little nerve racking. I had assured Jordan before playing that if he tore his ACL he would not be having surgery to fix it until after our child was sleeping through the night. Luckily no tearing or serious injury occurred. I did not enjoy watching his head bounce off the floor after jumping up for the ball and getting his legs taken out from under him, but it apparently looked much worse than it was. After receiving some ice for his head he instead held it on his thumb (which he broke two years ago playing basketball) because he jammed it pretty bad and the bruising the next day was evident. Overall we enjoyed a lot of time with family and friends so far over break.
We got to see our friend Seth who was back from New York and I got to see Lindsay who will officially be a mama the next time I see her. The Frederiksens were our final stop before heading back to Iowa Falls to sleep in our own bed again. We have enjoyed lots of cat naps, sleeping in, unpacking, reorganizing, football, movies, books, etc. since then. We are signing off 2013 with a relaxing day and a fun filled Olympic themed night. We have enjoyed a wonderful 2013 and can't wait to see how much more wonderful 2014 will be with our tiny addition!
