We are loving this time of year. We always do. Jordan and I are both Christmas fanatics (the verdict is still out for Teddy)! We kicked off the holiday season Saturday by decorating the Christmas tree as soon as we got home on and blaring some classic Christmas tunes. Sunday we drug out the rest of our indoor decorations and Jordan set out our luminaries (a little disheveled after leaving them out too long last year). Monday night we baked our spritz cookies. This has been a tradition that I have always done with my family and after enjoying them for a few years at my parents, Jordan assured me that it was a tradition that must continue (he was even the one who picked out the cookie press, literally a kid in a candy store). I continued in the spirit by spending some time Thursday shopping with my mom for Christmas presents. Friday night Jordan went off to enjoy some basketball and cards with the guys and I soaked up a few classic movies with Teddy. We wrapped presents and snuggled up with popcorn.
Saturday morning I took Jordan to show him the furniture and bedding I had picked out for our little chap's nursery. Luckily he loved it and gave it the daddy stamp of approval. Then we grabbed a bite to eat and headed over to Buy Buy Baby to at least begin our registry. This was extremely fun at first, but quickly became overwhelming (its amazing all of us survived with just a few necessities). Jordan was engaged, calm and supportive and just nodded along scanning at my request and giving his input when necessary. He only got a little sick of it when we were in the isle full of nipple creams, cooling pads, hemorrhoid cream, etc. I don't blame him that isle gave me some second thoughts too :) haha. At the end we were in agreement that we had tackled enough for one day and needed to head off and do something different. So off to do some Christmas shopping (Jordan is done in record time this year before we are even in double digits of December). Then we enjoyed a delicious supper at Waterfront Sea Food Market. We wrapped up our outing by attempting to register for a few things at Target. Apparently Target had some amazing sales, because the entire store had been ransacked and was full of empty shelves (seriously I've never seen Target like that). So we weren't able to get much accomplished and we both were a little tired, not to mention Jordan was missing a couple basketball games and football games he had wanted to watch and never once complained or checked his phone (I know, he truly is the best). Then we wrapped up a little more Christmas shopping before heading back to pick up Teddy from Mimi and Papi and watching the end of the Big 10 Championship game. I, of course, enjoyed my peppermint stick ice cream for dessert while he was absorbed in the game. The final leg of the trip home was quiet as Teddy and I slept most of the way and Jordan, luckily, was able to stay awake.
Today we enjoyed sleeping in snuggled up in bed no rush to get up and peeked out to see the snow falling softly outside. After church we ran errands so Jordan could get the rest of the lights he wanted to add to our outdoor display. If he had all the time in the world I am sure our house would be modeled after the Griswold's. Before venturing out into the beautiful snow covered frigid outdoors we needed to take our Sunday afternoon naps (a tradition that baby boy better enjoy too). All of us were outside for a while and Teddy was harassing the neighbor dog and frolicking in the snow. Hot cocoa with peppermint marshmallows was the perfect afternoon treat to dethaw us all. Checking papers and wrapping presents has been quiet while Jordan is off playing basketball. We have had a wonderful week to begin celebrating Jesus's Birthday. Hope you are all enjoying the kick off to this holiday season.
