DIY
Why is it that every time we have grand visions of a DIY project it seems so easy!!! Generally they start out easy too. Just like changing the light fixture for our little Chap's nursery. We were cruising along clipping chains to shorten the chandelier (which at least looks great). Then Jordan took the old light down. We were smiling and telling our little Chap how good his room was going to look and I was babbling about how this was going to make the room perfect. Then it was time to actually hang the monster! Jordan quickly found out the importance of turning off all electricity and on we went. A quick phone call to a friend for clarification on the wiring set our minds at ease and we tag teamed the crap out of that chandelier. With no blood left in our hands from holding them above our heads (wondering how on earth do people do this alone) we stepped back to admire our work. We screwed some lightbulbs in and crossed our fingers as Jordan turned our power back on. Then Tadaahhh! Oh it was beautiful those glowing lights, reflecting off the dainty glass pieces, it was so beautiful I wanted to flip the switch to confirm that this was reality. It was then noticed, this light was magically on even though the switch was in the off position, hmmmmm. So obviously I had to investigate and I tell you what every time we flipped the switch back off we blew a fuse. So after some trial and error, including leaving it on for an extended amount of time, we had to cap off the wires again and look at the pretty unlit chandelier hanging in the nursery. At this point we are waiting to see if anyone else (that knows anything about electrical work) can determine our error. We would rather not burn up our house and blow yet another fuse. If you have suggestions or want to check our handy work feel free to stop on over :)
