I have to first admit I find the holiday a little silly. Just like Valentine's Day and Father's Day. It is a strange thought that we need to point out a day to appreciate the people we love and be thankful for them. Shouldn't we do this everyday whenever possible? Never the less, I am one to say I am very thankful for my amazing Mom! She is one stellar woman. Just this week my mom was willing to drive up here on a whim and help me turn my black thumb green by planting a few flowers (that will hopefully grow and stay beautiful...as long as she texts and calls me to remind me to water or dead head them). She has taught me a magnitude of things throughout the years and without her I would undoubtedly be lost! There aren't words to describe what my mom means to me. She is an amazing woman who I am sure I didn't always agree with growing up (especially not about the clothes she dressed me in looking back, just kidding mom), but who has become someone that is one of my best friends and I love and respect an incredible amount. Especially when I look at the rest of the family. I mean obviously I was easy to deal with but as for my dad, Nic, and Grant...
Thanks mom for all the little things, the big things, the unforgettable things, the unnoticed things, and for the things yet to come. I love you so much and I hope you know how much you mean to me!
Memories:
trips to the library
books before naps
sitting on your lap in the car while you hold a trashcan infront of me for my vomit (at least I was neat and tidy about my car sickness)
letting me do your hair
singing to me in the rocker or just singing all the ridiculous songs you sang to us all
tickling my back before bed
back to school shopping (yes I remember when you used to make me try on clothes quick standing by the rack too)
family vacations (you always tried to make them drama free, but rarely were they, but where would the fun in that be)
roller blading, biking, or walking with you while you walked
hearing you yell run for your life at track meets
your ridiculous cat calls to me while I would proudly twirl my flag in marching band
wedding dress shopping/bridesmaids dress shopping (trifecta anyone?)
Cedar Falls trips
Iowa City trips (Iowa football games of the past ans present)
Ikea trips (haven't had a trip we didn't manage to pack it all into the car)
planting flowers (I'm sorry we didn't know you were closed)
rubbing my back when I was 18 yrs old and sick and woke you up in the middle of the night (although according to me there was no need to wake you in the night for anything especially a curfew)
pedicures and manicures
margaritas and bottles of wine
lazy days on the dock at the lake
plenty of shopping trips
baking cookies or teaching me how to cook anything
shopping for the best Easter or Christmas dress that twirled
picnics in the park
long talks about anything and everything
lots of smiles, laughs, sighs, excitement, hugs, kisses, and wonderful memmories
