We have a one year old!
A year ago today our four legged baby was born! I know many of you think that I am ridiculous when I say that a dog is a blessing, but he is. The day we got him was also the day we moved into our home. Since the day we have been here, so has he. He truly helped to make our house a home (he also helped to break in the place especially the carpet).
Our dog has offered a few frustrating moments when we were first potty training, or now on rainy days when he refuses to go outside. But there have been mountains more of smiles, snuggles, laughs, and kisses shared. He can lighten the mood when his daddy and I are having a discussion, or snuggle you when you have had a long day. He is currently laying on the back of the chair where I am sitting with his little body wrapped around my neck as if he is one of those therapy heating pads. I seriously can't imagine our life without him. When he does on occasion have an overnight stay somewhere, I panic when I wake up in bed and don't feel his hot little body up against me.
Our dog has even managed to make us healthier when his big eyes stare at me while sitting by the door, or when he jumps with excitement as soon as I pick up my tennis shoes simply to put them away. In the end I follow his lead and off we go to cruise through town. His kisses have a magical power to strengthen your heart. Our abs have definitely gotten a work out, when he ran into the screen door, was terrified of the jack-o-lantern we carved at Halloween, went down the sled with his Nana and I and was air born at Christmas, and many other fine moments in his life.
Anyway... we are ridiculous parents who of course sang Happy Birthday to our dog on our Snow day (Yes we got a bunch of snow on May 2nd. It's Iowa. We would like to think of it as confetti to help us celebrate our favorite little puppy)! I made cupcakes, and yes we actually ended up letting Teddy have a little bit of one, even though we never feed him real food. He also got an amazing toy bone that we have the capability of turning the squeaker off. Amazing! Well Ted I hope you had a great first birthday and are okay with us as your parents because we are head over heels for you!
