Spring Fever is beginning to take over our house (unfortunately spring cleaning has not...hmmmmmm)! We are finding ourselves getting outside every chance we can to enjoy this beautiful weather that we have been given. I have my toe nails painted again and prepped for sandals (although I am sure I could still use a pedicure if any of you would like to twist my arm). We have finally switched out our closets and hidden our sweaters in the the back corners and brought out the light weight clothes of spring and summer. For Jordan it will be back to his uniform of polos. Which is an obvious favorite as one of his students asked him, "Mr. Sheahan why do you always wear those same shirts in a different color everyday?" To his defense he does break them up occasionally with a linnen shirt that I convinced him were great buys (and I think he would now agree). For me I am finding that I am loving the sheer flowing clothes, pastels, and of course DRESSES (bonus I can now wear dresses comfortably even on days I have recess duty). My students are enjoying naming my sandals and summer shoes they haven't seen since they started the quirky habit during our morning meetings.
Our masters class doesn't seem nearly as consuming when we can sit out on the deck to read and type papers in the sun. The same can probably be said in our classrooms. We are getting to the point in the year that is bitter sweet. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and we are definitely racing towards it. I am going to miss my class this year just as I missed last years class. I think I will miss the hugs, smiles, and giggles of this group the most (and the hiccups, literally someone seems to have hiccups in this crew daily). I am finding myself at that point where I feel like they could run my room without me, and hopefully they would be proactive leaders and do the right thing even if no one is looking. As one student this morning was predicting my every move on the smart board during our morning routines. "Now you are going to click that link. Then type esheahan. Then your password. What is your password? (one of those smiles and giggles I am going to miss) Fine! Then you are going to close that and open the calendar and click view full screen. Delete the old ones... etc." I think ladies and gentlemen we have the next SMARTboard sales rep in the making at Pineview Elementary.
Anyway I am loving the change to spring and I am thankful for the freshness it has brought into our home and school. I hope you are finding time to enjoy this wonderful time of year with your family to. Isn't it truly the simple pleasures in life.
